About the book
Tracing the journey of one the eight classical dance forms of India, ‘Kathak: Kuchh Baatein, Kuchh Yaadein’ is a compilation of essays, features, reports etc. published between 1978 and 1985, brought together. While working as critic and columnist for Hindi newspaper in the early eighties, Brijendra Rehi wrote extensively about art and culture, with specific emphasis on India’s dancing tradition. Just around that time, the author also produced Television programmes on Kathak.
Compiled with inputs and interviews of some leading Kathak exponents and scholars of contemporary times, ‘Kathak: Kuchh Baatein, Kuchh Yaadein’ is as much a historical excavation, as it is an evolutionary account of Kathak. The reader is aided in the reading with not only rare photographs, but also vividly written text to support the visual imagery.
